Sister School Program

Our Mission Statement

The Sister School philanthropic program benefits the students of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) by fostering civic responsibility, enhancing community engagement, promoting volunteerism, and by teaching the joy of helping others. This goal is accomplished by partnering each school in the SRVUSD with a partner school in a neighboring disadvantaged area of the East Bay. Through collaborative determination of need, schools in the SRVUSD conduct a minimum of two drives and/or fundraisers per year for items that benefit the children of their sister schools.

The Sister School Program is a district-wide, PTA-sponsored program that began in 1994 as "The Cross County Partner School Program" (also known as "Cross County Books/Clothes"). A majority of SRVUSD schools participate in the Program.

SRVUSD schools are partnered with schools located in a variety of East Bay cities including Richmond, San Pablo, Antioch, Pittsburg, Concord, and Oakland.

Each participating PTA unit has a Sister School Program Ambassador who is an active volunteer member of their PTA Board, and is responsible for coordinating the program at their PTA unit

We are very proud of our unique program and we are looking forward to another amazing year! Our unit level Sister School Program Ambassadors have some exciting plans- be sure to check your school communications to find out what is happening with your school's Sister School Program. Our SRVCPTA monthly newsletter also highlights Sister School events - please subscribe on our PTA Council home page.

Our Sister School Ambassadors are volunteer parent leaders, who play an important role in providing unity, building momentum and growing sustainability at their school sites. These Ambassadors are also important links to each other, for sharing ideas and offering support. As a team, our collective goals this year include:

  • Helping our new (and returning) Ambassadors build capacity through ongoing, cross-unit collaboration

  • Making our Program even more visible through targeted communication at the unit and Council levels, and by maintaining our website as a viable resource for our unit Ambassadors and as a useful communication tool for our extended community

  • Developing a "Sister School Program Guide to Best Practices"

  • Supporting units in implementing established best practices with staff, parents and students, while also encouraging flexible planning that meets the needs of our Sister Schools

Heartfelt appreciation to our slate of amazing 2017-18 PTA Sister School Program Ambassadors:
